How we engrave the inside of rings.
Your ring is placed into the 3 self centering nylon chucks at the top of the engraving machine and tightend until secure. Nylon chucks are used to ensure that no marks are left on the outside of your ring.
We then choose the character by rotating the brass font plate at the bottom of the engraving machine and tightening the centre nut so that no slipping occurs.
We then hold down the bar with the black knob to the lower left hand side, this lowers the diamond tipped cutter located inside the ring into position ready for the first cut.
You will see a centre bar with a grey knob, this bar directly controls the diamond cutter inside the ring and duplicates any movement. This is pressed down in order to locate the stylus into the stencil of the letter, we then move the the stylus around the the letter to make a matching cut in the ring.
We then lift the black knob up which in turn lifts the diamond cutter from the ring and also advances the ring to the next position for another letter to be engraved.
Once the engraving has been completed we then polish the inside of the ring to remove any burrs that have been made during the cutting process. |
